Muurbal / Squash

Sasolburg High School experienced a wonderful and exciting squash year. As in the past SHS was the school with the most players entered in the Vaal Triangle Schools League with 6 teams entered. Here they competed against schools from all around the Vaal Triangle such as Vereeniging Gymnasium and Transvalia. The learners were all very eager to start the squash season early with practices resuming on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the hostel squash courts, already from the first term, where masses of learners met to work on and improve their skills.

Die spanne se prestasies vir 2017 was as volg:

  • 1ste span – 2de
  • 2de span – 6de
  • 3de span – 3de
  • 4de span – 5de
  • 5de span – 5de
  • 6de span – 3de

Five of our squash learners also entered and competed in the Vaal Triangle Top 64 Tournament that took place during April and May at the Mittal squash courts in Vanderbijlpark. These learners were Lombard, L. Loubser, JP Marais, S. v.d. Merwe and S. Organ. Zoë Lombard performed exceptionally well. She emerged as the runner-up in her pool against many talented players.

We bid our matriculants farewell: Zoë Lombard and Pieter v. Zyl.  Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and contributions made to SHS squash.
